We all know the famous actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The thing that most people don’t know is that she has a younger sister who is also an actress, model and interior designer. Surprising right? Shilpa Shetty’s younger sister’s name is Shamita Shetty.
Shamita Shetty had debuted in the multi starrer film Mohabbatein, which became a blockbuster of that time in the year 2000. She was even awarded the IIFA award for best star debut for her acting in that movie. So what does she do now?
Shamita Shetty Family and Early Life
Shamita Shetty was born on 2nd February, 1979 in Mangalore, Karnataka. Their family belongs to the Tulu speaking Bunt community of Udipi. Surendra, her father, and Sunanda, her mother, worked in the pharmaceutical sector as manufacturers of tamper-proof water caps.
She is very well educated, that also in a variety of spectrums. Their family shifted to Mumbai by the time Shamita started school.

She attended Mumbai’s St. Anthony’s Girls’ High School for her education. Shamita Shetty earned a fashion design certification from SNDT College in Mumbai after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from Sydenham College.
Following that, she began an internship with fashion designer Manish Malhotra, but Manish spotted potential in her and suggested that she prepare for a career in acting. Shetty decided to pursue her interest for interior design in 2011. Royalty, a Mumbai club, was her first solo enterprise. She went on to finish a diploma in Inchbald school of design and also at Central Saint Martins in London.
Shamita Shetty Career
Soon after her debut in the movie Mohabbatein, She appeared in hit songs like Sharara Sharara and Chori pe chori from the movies Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Saathiya. She received praise for her performance in the movie Zeher which was released in 2005. She was nominated for a Stardust Award for Female Star of the Year for her work in the same movie.
In the film Fareb, she collaborated alongside her sister Shilpa Shetty. She also appeared in multi-star films such as Bewafa (2005) and Cash. In 2009, she was a contestant on Bigg Boss 3, a reality television show. She exited the show after 42 days to attend Shilpa’s wedding. She wasn’t even nominated for elimination in all those days that she participated.
She explored interior designing alongside her acting work and even started her own firm after completing her diploma and internship in designing. After a break from her acting career, she came back to reality and TV shows. Some of them are Jhalak dikh Laja, khatroh ke khiladi and some OTT movies like Black Widows, Yo Ke Hua Bro, etc.
